The Mid-Peninsula Recorder Orchestra (MPRO) is a leading San Francisco Bay Area playing and performing orchestra for adult recorder players and players of other early musical instruments. MPRO has been active in the San Francisco Bay area for over 60 years and is the oldest recorder orchestra in the western hemisphere. We are professionally led by Fred Palmer and welcome player-members with a range of playing experience. MPRO holds bi-monthly rehearsals on Monday evenings in Redwood City on the San Francisco peninsula and typically presents performances twice a year, in December and May. Our music ranges from very early through the twenty-first century with an emphasis on music of the renaissance and baroque periods.
